This style of butter dish is made from wheel thrown, then altered porcelain.The image is created with an inlay technique to create the fine black lines, and is painted with underglaze watercolor. Finally, glaze is applied to the inside and to the image. The bare clay is left in the negative space which gives it a lovely tactile quality.
