Round Butter Dish with peonies
This butter dish nicely holds a small stick of butter while offering you a lovely sculpture to add color and interest to your breakfast table—You can keep it in the fridge, or for soft butter keep it out on the counter.
This style of butter dish is made from wheel thrown porcelain. The image is created with an inlay technique to create the fine black lines, and is painted with underglaze watercolor.Finally, glaze is applied to the inside and to the image. The bare clay is left in the negative space which gives it a lovely tactile quality.
The same amount of clay is always used, but since it is uniquely handmade the size varies a little from piece to piece.
